How to install Podiatry Practice Pro on a single PC or Laptop

Installing from a CD Top

To start the installation please insert the disk in your CD drive. If installation does not start automatically then browse the disk and open the file 'SetUp' or 'SetUp.exe'. It is in the root directory of the CD (i.e. not inside a folder).

You need Microsoft Access 2000 or later to run Podiatry Practice Pro. There is a copy of Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime on the installation disk if you need it. The installation program will look for Microsoft Access on your computer. If it finds none it will automatically start to install Microsoft Access Runtime from the disk.

After Access 2000 Runtime has been installed you may need to restart your computer and re-start the installation of Podiatry Practice Pro. On some computers this will happen automatically.

You may get an error message similar to this during installation:

this means that you probably have Microsoft Access '97 installed and need to install the Runtime version of Microsoft Access 2000.
Please install the copy from your Podiatry Practice Pro disk. To install it browse the disk and open the folder 'AccessRt' then run (double click) the file 'SetUp.exe'
This link will help you with Access Runtime Installation

Login Top

When Podiatry Practice Pro starts up you will see a login screen:

There is a choice of using the Training environment or the Live environment. Please use the training environment to play with Pppro and get used ti it's features. Any data that you enter in the Training environment does not appear in the Live section, nor does it interfere with any live patient data.

Your User Id = admin Your password = pass

The password should be changed as soon as possible to protect your data. You can also define more Logins and change Passwords by clicking Tools > User Security

Training Environment Top

Podiatry Practice Pro has a 'Training' and a 'Live' environment. When you first open the system it is set up to use the training environment data. You can play about to your hearts content within the training environment. There are (fictitious) patient data there for demonstration purposes.

Live Environment Top

When you want to use the Live environment (stand alone PC only) to input real patients records and treatments: click Tools > Data Links > Use Live Data.

If you are using PPpro over a network you need to use the Table Links button on the Login screen to navigate to the tables file on your server.

Go back to the Training environment by clicking Tools > Data Links > Use Training Data

You can switch between 'Live' and 'Training' but make sure that only the main menu is open and that you close all other screens within Podiatry Practice Pro before you change environments.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the Training data contains some financial transactions. If you use the training environment for your 'real' data the financial section will not be accurate because it will include the fictitious training data. Always use the 'Live Environment' for real patient data input.

Getting Help Top

There are help files built into Podiatry Practice Pro. They give help on using the features in the software.

To find them: In the toolbar at the top of the Podiatry Practice Pro screen click Help > Podiatry Practice Pro Help

If you get a message that says the help files can't be found, click 'yes' when asked if you want to find the files yourself. Then browse to the PPpro folder within the 'Program Files' folder on your C drive. Open the file 'PPPROHELP'.
